For the clothing of the Orcs, I tried a painting method developed by Ninjon and showcased in many of his recent videos. This technique involves painting an area in a color gradient by wetblending two colors, then painting a basecolor on top, leaving the color gradient showing in the recesses. According to him, this quickly adds a lot of color variety and complexity, as the flat color on top is enriched by the gradient in the shadows.
It works :-)
I at most added one layer of highlights, sometimes just using a base color on top of the gradient, and it really looks good with much less effort than blending a whole lot. This even worked well with metallics.
