For my introductory game of Aliens: Another Glorious Day in the Corps, we were two players. The Heroes were played by Marc (Lt. Gorman) and me (Matthias, Pvt. Vasquez), plus we had a shared number of Grunts available.
The Marines broke through the wall into the compound in their APC, and readied their weapons. The mission was clear: free their comrades that got snatched by the aliens, and were in a cocoon waiting to be infested. The motion tracker showed movement between the Marines and their targets.
The Marines advanced, as did the aliens. Soon, the first alien was in line of sight.
Lt. Gorman, on his second assignment and eager to lead from the front, …
… got rushed by a swarm of Xenos. Vasquez and Drake worked their smartguns like frenzied, but some aliens got through and Gorman went down. Luckily, it turned out he only got the wind knocked out of him.
The next swarm attacked Hudson, …
… but Vasquez shot them down just in time.
The Colonial Marines avenging Gormans demise mowed down all of the aliens facing them and then the Marines continued their advance.
More aliens rushed them.
Then, suddenly, a floor plate was thrown aside from below, revealing a tunnel, through which aliens emerged in the midst of the Marines!
Everyone moved out of the way, allowing Gorman to use his flame thrower to great effect.
Only smoldering ashes remained. Still, the tunnel was now a constant threat to the Marines.
The aliens advancing on the Marines where quickly shot down in the crossfire of the Marines.
Vasquez and Drake lead the charge with their smartguns.
In the corridor next to them, the motion scanner showed a lot of activity.
When they rounded the corner and got line of sight down that corridor, it indeed turned out to be bustling with aliens.
Methodically, the Marines started to mow down the creatures.
Which they managed before the aliens could attack them.
Alas, the group of aliens advancing from the direction of the Marines' objective broke through, and knocked down Drake.
More aliens advanced on the Marines through the corridor as well.
Vasques, knowing she was as the only one who was capable of handling the situation, got into a real battle frenzy mowing down wave after wave of Aliens in the corridor, …
before swinging her smartgun around in one fluid motion to riddle the alien that had knocked down Drake with holes.
With the gunfire behind him, knowing Vasquez had his back, Sgt. Apone advanced towards the objective.
More blips appeared on the motion trackers.
Drake advanced with Apone, while Vasquez cut down a swath of the aliens towards spawn point one, after Apone had freed Fero. She moved back towards Vasquez, who gave her a pistol for self-defence.
An endless number of aliens continued to advance towards Vasquez through the corridor.
More and more blips appeared on the motion trackers.
Vasquez cleared the corridor again, while Apone freed Wierzbowsky, and Drake shot down aliens.
Apone moved into position to free the last comrade, while Vasquez provided Wierzbowsky with a Pulse Rifle.
The swarming aliens stood no chance against Vasquez' hail of bullets.
While tactical situation looked good, more and more blips appeared, and the Endurance Deck was very low, forcing the Marine players to discard cards from the Exhaust Pile instead on several occasions.
When their last comrade was freed, the Marines started to retreat.
Vasquez still held her position, cutting down aliens front towards spawn point one, and left in the corridor.
The aliens were not able to close with the Marines.
The Marines on the other hand cleared enough room, and were then able to outrun the aliens, reaching their APC and retreating, with the mission being a full success.
