Cror is a long time sticka. He started out poking enemies with a stick with a pointy end up close and personal. But that turned out to be quite dangerous, and he got multiple injuries in quite a short time. And some severe ones, too. After the third really hefty injury, an axe to his head, which left a great gash, a reason why you hardly see him without his cowl on, that wound won't really heal, and he wants to protect it – in his bug infested, caked with dirt cowl… – he decided that stickaing from the front row was too dangerous for him to continue sticking to this fighting technique.
So he got himself a longer sticka, one of those pesky pointy-eared elf corpses provided him with, and started to sticka enemies from the second line, leaving the front row to other more stupid goblins. But they were often killed so fast that he was in the front row again!
So he got himself much shorter stickas, and a shortbow to shoot them from, and joined one of the bow-armed units, to sticka enemies from afar. As it turned out, he had quite keen eyes, and a very good perception of distances (might there be a connection to his head wound, with that axe having tickled certain regions of his small brain…?). He often corrected his unit's boss on his orders, target priorities, etc. – which of course wasn't well received by his boss. With his last bad decision, which Cror objected to but the objection was ignored with a clap on the back of Cror's head, of course, his former boss sealed the doom of his unit – when he thought his couple shortbow-armed gobbos could stop the charge of a unit of mounted Reikland Knights. Cror took up a strategic position (behind a big rock, which didn't allow him to shoot the knights, but made him survive the charge, not having been seen by them). His unit was almost wiped out. He collected the four surviving, injured goblins, and formed his own unit of stickas. The surviving goblins, having heard his objection against the former boss' decision, were now convinced of his tactical genius, and loyally stuck with him.
As the Bad Moon can see everything on the battlefield from his place in the sky, so can Cror see anything of importance on a battlefield that needs to be stickaed – that is the reason why he chose the Bad Moon as his unit's banner. He and his unit have stickaed a great many enemies from afar since then.
Ever since he stuck with Scak the Beanstalk, to sticka his enemies, also a lot of enemy units were so afraid of Cror's unit's fame, they just ran away – that in all those instances Yellow Toe Nail on his wyvern was behind Cror's unit is pure coincidence, of course…
