To get the 'hellish' touch to the board, I used purple glitter. I covered the board in PVA (in sections) then sprinkled on purple glitter, followed by larger aquarium sand and then finer aquarium sand. The intention was to have this unnatural purple shine coming through the otherwise desolate ground.
Finally, everything was sealed in PVA (sprayed on as a mixture of PVA, water and alcohol).
