The 'fork' in the name comes from software engineering. In this environment a fork is taking a programm in its current state and then develop it from there in a direction not followed by the original programmers, developing it according to one's own ideas and requirements; thus making it a distinct piece of software.

This tome is also a fork, in the sense that house rules were added, orginal rules not liked being taken out, combining material from Song of Blades and Heroes and Advanced Song of Blades and Heroes (including supplements) thus making it distinct to the original rules. This is our own game, tailored to our needs and preferences.
