I designed two banners based on the banner shape and the runes in 4e Warhammer Armies Dwarves. After printing them I cut them out, and painted them.
To get the triangles align (which they wouldn't if I cut them and then tried to glue them on top of their other side's counterpart), I first glued the outer edges, then cut the triangles.
Afterwards I started the fiddly task to push them over the banner head…
Also, I glued pre-painted sand onto the bases.
