Gherr is a new addition to Scak the Beanstalk's Batallion. He has a reputation of being an excellent marksman - that's why he was hired. He tells big stories of his best ranged combat attacks, where he landed the arrow in the helmet eye slit of an otherwise impenetrably armoured Bretonnian Knight, and similar epic stories. His last unit unfortunately was wiped out, before Gherr was able to bring the last enemy down with an awesomely heroic last ditch attach with his bow, so you have to take his word for his capabilities. Now he passes on his knowledge to his new unit Scak tasked him to command.
Curiously, in Scak's Batallion, nobody ever saw Gherr use an arrow. He strides into battle armed with a big mace and a shield. He claims, that he will only pick up the arrow against worthy foes, and that his passing on his expertiese to his cronies is enough of a contribution to the battallion's battle prowess. Curiously, his henchmen also seem to not be able to hit the broad side of a barn… need more training, Gherr claims, but they have potential.
Even with all these incongruities, nobody would ever call Gherr a worthless braggart… not after what Gherr's mace did to the last goblin who claimed that… The skull on his personal banner represents the death he reigns onto the enemy, Gherr claims - inofficially, many goblins believe it represents the death he brings unto his own unit, as in his previous command.
And so Gherr gets the usual pay for a unit commander under Scak - plus the increment for being a marksman.
