The contact to the colony on moon LV-426 was lost. No attempt to re-establish it was successful. Therefore a contingent of United States Colonial Marines was sent to check on the terraforming, research, and mining colony, accompanied by a representative of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation as well as Ellen Ripley, a civil advisor.
