With the French being seen, the patrol near the enclosure split up: One Jäger kneeled down at the fence and shot his musket at the attackers (missing), while the other ran into the compound yelling "Achtung, Franzosen!".
The Officer left the bulding with the rest of the squad, the patrol behind them moved up, while the patrol on the other flank moved out towards the woods to cover that flank.

The retreating Jäger at the corner of the carthouse returned fire… and missed the attacking French soldier. His comrade moved into the courtyard of the farm.
The Jäger at the enclosure shot at the French soldier behind the Fence, but missed.
On the house opposite the carthouse, the Jägers reloaded, the two Jägers that were on patrol moved up, trying to get into a formation that would allow volley fire or shoot and reload group activations.

French 54e Régiment de Ligne (Richard)

The French squad continued to advance.

The French squad still lacked motivation and again did not make it very far.
The French player was not amused…

Turn 5

Black Brunswickers in British Service (Matthias)

The patrol near the carthouse continued to retreat, as did the soldier at the enclosure - he moved bhind the man high fence to be able to reload unseen.
The main part of the Brunswicker squad formed up in two rows, the officer directing them from behind. One of them took careful aim, and shot at the pair of French soldiers behind their knocked down compagnon, hitting one right at the temple, killing him instantly.

1. Reg. Chasseurs a pied de la Garde Imperial (Marc)

The first French soldier grabbed a cow and pulled her away. A second French soldier grabbed a cow. A third French soldier roped in the poor sweet calf… which mooed heartbreakingly! Dastard French…

Black Brunswickers in British Service (Matthias)

The Jägers took advantage of their formation, and took down one of the 54th French Line Regiment with concentrated volley fire.
image
The kindhearted Jäger at the stables tried everything to save he poor calf from its hijacker, but he missed… luckily not only the French, but also the calf.
image
The Jäger in the enclosure swung his emtpy musket while running towards the French Old Guard Officer, who nonchalantly turned the musket away with his sabre, the Jäger recoiled in surprise.

French 54e Régiment de Ligne (Richard)

The squad finally got somehow organised and acted purposfully. Behind the wall, four soldiers formed into a firing line. Their comrades stormed the farm yard, two engaging the Jäger who tried to attack the officer.

1. Reg. Chasseurs a pied de la Garde Imperial (Marc)

One of the Old Guard charged the Jäger in contact with the other French Squad's line infantry.

Turn 9

French 54e Régiment de Ligne (Richard)

Now it was the French's turn for a volley fire, and they killed one out of the formation of the Jägers.
image
The two French that failed miserably with their Free Hack again ganged up on the Jäger, this time applying the coupe de grâce. Of course, real men would have fought valiantly tête à tête instead of cowardly doubling up on one poor single guy and stabbing him in the back…
image

1. Reg. Chasseurs a pied de la Garde Imperial (Marc)

The other French squad pulled their captive cows back towards their own line.
image

Black Brunswickers in British Service (Matthias)

One of the Jäers of the formation split off, took cover at the corner of the house and fired his musket at the French line solder behind the fence - the fence he did hit…
The rest of the Jägers advanced in formation towards the cattle thiefs.
image
On the other flank, one of the Jägers started to reload his musket, while the other moved up to the bale and fired his musket at the French NCO across the bale, missing him by a hair's breadth.

Turn 10

French 54e Régiment de Ligne (Richard)

The soldat behind the fence fired his musket at the Jäger at the corner of the house, removing some plastering from the building. Then the activation roll failed again…
image

Black Brunswickers in British Service (Matthias)

The formation shot down the French Sapper with volley fire. The next activation was a double 1… those pesky French line infantry's dice luck seems to be contagious…
image

1. Reg. Chasseurs a pied de la Garde Imperial (Marc)

The French killed one Jäger out of the formation, otherwise they were busy herding the cows away.

The French used their two consecutives activations to bring their stolen animals out of the fight.
image

Black Brunswickers in British Service (Matthias)

The Jäger at the corner fired again at the line infantry monsieur behind the fence, this time shooting above his head. The Jägers in formation frantically relaoded their muskets.
image

French 54e Régiment de Ligne (Richard)

The French ended the fight by sniping the Brunswick officer, causing morale tests across the Jägers, resulting in all Jägers except one fleeing in shock. Three leave the table or were destroyed.
The few survivors gave up their valiant fight against overwhelming French forces, and reported back to their British employers…
