To prepare for the final oil wash, I took the models out to the balcony and gave them a coat of gloss varnish from the spray can. And of course I dropped one model, which's head came loose and was gone… So back to painting one more head.
The came the black/brown oilwash, which I applied to 'blackline' the models, trying to add more definition between different sections. As basically everything is in the same camo pattern, the pockets on the legs, the flaps from the rear pockets on the trousers, the boundaries between shirt and plate carrier, etc. are not really visible. To make the different parts stand out more, I used this oil wash which, also because of the gloss varnish, neatly ran along those seams and I hardy had to clean anything afterwards.
