I started by airbrushing the models with Molotow black, followed by a Molotow white zenithal highlight.
I have a specific color scheme in mind, which relies on Golden SoFlat's Phthalo Green (Blue Shade) as the primary tone. I have never used the SoFlats through an airbrush, because apparently at least some of the tones contain cadmium and cobalt, heavy metals which are unhealthy to breath. So I made sure to wear a respirator and had all windows open. With enough airbrush thinner added, it was no issue to spray these rather creamy colors.
I started with the orange arms, which were highlighted with orane and yellow. I fully trusted the green to cover the orange overspray, but wasn't so sure if the orange would cover the green well.
I then masked the arms with putty.
For the green, I started with Phthalo Green (Blue Shade) mixed ~3:2 with Payne's Grey, followed by pure green, followed by green lightened with the same yellow as the orange.
Time for the big reveal… tada!
The masking worked as expected. From here on it will be brush work.
