As decorations, I wanted to add checkerboard patterns. So far, I always free-handed them. Time to try something new. I applied 1mm masking tape, strip besides strip, before removing every second, to get an even spacing. Once I had done this horizontally, I repeated the process vertically.
Using a piece of blister foam, I sponged yellow over the masked areas, to get an instant weathering effect into the yellow.
Then came the great reveal - well, mmmhh…
Let's complete the pattern.
Okay, I had hoped for a much more even result… Need to find out if the stippling did not cover enough of the areas, or if my taping was not precise enough. I think next time I will try to use a brush instead of the foam.
