For reasons undisclosed below, I printed a second skull.
The bone part was painted like the skull columns; the pouring blood was painted white, then with Daler Rowny crimson ink. Over that I wanted to use one of the two blood effects from Vallejo that I own, and used once or so in the 10+ years I have them. Both had quite a lot of dried up clumps of color in them; I am sure 8 years ago, or whenever that one time I used them was, were not there. Seems about time I use them up.
I decided to use the fresh blood, and applied about 5 coats of it over the crimson until I was satisfied. The bottom of the pool got a coat of dried blood. After gluing the skull in place, I poured a first layer of clear resin, tinted with Fresh Blood about 2mm deep.
And the following picture also shows why I printed a second skull, the first was way too small for my liking for this piece, but I already have plans for it.
I added one more tinted layer, again about 2-3mm, before adding a final clear resin layer.
