With the wyvern now also mostly done, it is time to tackle the last major part of the model, the banner. I traced the classic Orc Shaman banner from the 4e army book in Inkscape, mirrored it, just to have it somwhat different, and made the two halves as wide apart as fits the pole I have on my model. The first test showed that the size is about right.
I then put tape on my cutting mat, so that the banner (again from dried wet cloth) will not stick to it. I then taped the dried wet cloth on top, then cut out the banner and taped the frame on top of that. This will be my canvas.
From the cut out banner, I cut out the icons.
Using the paper as a stencil, I dabbed on purple.
I then blocked in the main coloured areas.
To get the paint to soak better into the cloth, I thinned it down with water, so the whole banner currently is still quite wet. This needs to thouroughly dry, before I can continue.
